KHEL: Knowledge on Health, Education and Learning through community games
The games people play can enhance learning. ‘Khel’ translates into game or play in Hindi. KHEL – Knowledge on Health, Education and Learning through community games, a short documentary film made by the Johns Hopkins Maternal and Child Health Center India (MCHI) and the , illustrates how social and behavior change can occur when people take on real roles they are living and come together for a universally desirable health outcome. The players are real mothers, fathers, frontline workers, teachers, village leaders, and adolescents, who jointly examine challenges and barriers, and design practical solutions through a journey of fun and games. With a cross-cutting objective of promoting health literacy, KHEL takes a life cycle approach, covering themes such as maternal health, childhood immunization and adolescent health.
