The work presented came from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, and Vietnam, as well as global research projects. Institute faculty and staff shared findings on TAPS, flavors, packaging, the media coverage and economic impact of smokefree laws, insights and impacts of IGTC capacity building and communications activities, and the use of AI in tobacco control research.

IGTC director Joanna Cohen—who also served as co-chair of the content committee—organized and moderated a well-attended “State of the Art” panel about ending the commercial sale of cigarettes. Associate director Kevin Welding chaired a satellite session on countering tobacco industry interference in tobacco taxation in tobacco-producing countries, organized by partners in Indonesia.

The three days also offered opportunities to connect with dozens of IGTC alumni at the Institute’s popular booth—including participants from the very first leadership program, in 2007, and alumni from the inaugural Ascend leadership program in 2024. Alumni were provided with special ribbons to indicate their inclusion in this impactful group of changemakers.
