Public Health is a discipline that necessarily happens in teams. This course will prepare you to incorporate diverse perspectives into the work you do, appreciate the benefits of doing so, and teach negotiation skills to ensure that you are prepared to navigate conflict that may arise.
Focuses on the critical need for a variety of perspectives and skill sets to develop an effective public health team. Covers topics that emphasize skills in the modern workplace including effective teamwork, conflict resolution, negotiating, and dealing with complexity in health systems.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Apply negotiation & mediation skills to address organizational or community challenges.
- Integrate perspectives from other sectors and/or professions to promote and advance population health.

This course is evaluated as follows:
- 40% Participation
- 20% Assignments
- 40% Group Presentation
This course will meet every other Thursday throughout Term 4 beginning in week 1.
