Description
Searching for an internship or a job can be its own job. In this course you will dedicate time to your preparations for your next professional step so that you are ready when opportunities present themselves. This term will focus on interpersonal engagement and networking skills.
Provides strategies and support to optimize interpersonal connections generally related to a job or internship search and application process. Focuses on networking and interview skills. Includes numerous opportunities for feedback from both peers and experts. Ties concepts to the rest of the series.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Identify relevant professionals with similar work interests for networking purposes.
  2. Practice different networking styles (in-person and virtual; broad-based and targeted) to prepare how to network with confidence.
  3. Define an informational interview and its purposes for advancing professional goals.
  4. Successfully prepare for an initial interview related to a practicum or job opportunity.

Special Comments

There are two sections of this course, which will be taught weekly. Section .01 will be taught weekly on Wednesdays throughout Term 3; and Section .02 will be taught weekly on Thursdays throughout Term 3. All classes will be held from 12 noon to 12:50 pm
