The Suicide Prevention Policy Hub

Transforming the Landscape of Suicide Prevention Policy.

Introducing The Suicide Prevention Policy Hub:

The Johns Hopkins Center for Suicide Prevention in partnership with the HOPES initiative and the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, is excited to announce the launch of our groundbreaking Suicide Prevention Policy Hub, the nation’s premier resource for understanding suicide prevention policy at the state and local levels. Our Hub is designed to empower policymakers, advocates, and communities with actionable insights and practical tools for advancing effective suicide prevention efforts.

We’re thrilled to unveil the first-of-its-kind Interactive Policy Dashboard, a powerful tool providing unparalleled insights into suicide prevention legislation across all 50 states. This innovative platform allows users to visualize and explore:

  • The 932 suicide prevention bills enacted nationwide since 2022, showcasing significant legislative momentum.
  • Bipartisan commitment to suicide prevention, with robust support from both Democratic and Republican sponsors.
  • Detailed state-level comparisons, spotlighting states such as New York, California, and Illinois.

This dashboard represents a pivotal step in our ongoing mission to bridge research, policy, and practice, making complex policy data accessible and actionable for everyone working toward suicide prevention.

But we’re just getting started! Over the coming months, the Suicide Prevention Policy Hub will roll out even more dynamic resources, including comprehensive implementation toolkits, model legislation templates, and state-specific case studies. Our goal is to establish a cohesive, evidence-driven approach to local suicide prevention policy that will have impacts nationwide.

Join us in reshaping the future of suicide prevention. Explore the dashboard today and stay tuned as we continue to build the leading-edge resources that states and communities need to save lives.
