James Yazzo, MS ' 24, works remotely as an environmental staff scientist with Nobis Group, a civil/geotechnical engineering and environmental consulting company focused on site remediation work. They regularly do work at Superfund sites, brownfield sites, and private or public properties. He does data validation studies, database management using SQL and EQuIS, and occasionally fieldwork.
How did your degree from EHE prepare you for your current career path?
My degree gave me a much more nuanced look at chemical contaminants and how they affect both the environment and the human body, which I am now applying in my current position.
What was your favorite thing about the program?
I greatly enjoyed the depth of knowledge that each of my professors had throughout my degree program, and how eager they were to share said knowledge with all of the students in their classes. I feel I learned such a wide array of content in each class I took, which I really appreciate now that I am working in a related field.
