Announcing the 2025 Bloomberg American Health Fellows

Sixty individuals working on pressing public health challenges across the country were awarded full scholarships from Johns ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½.

The Bloomberg American Health Initiative at the Johns ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ announces its ninth cohort of Bloomberg Fellows, 60 individuals working across the country to address pressing public health issues facing our nation: addiction and overdose, adolescent health, environmental challenges, food systems for health, and violence.

Each fellow represents an organization engaged in making progress on one of these challenges. Fifty fellows will receive full scholarships for the Master of Public Health degree, and 10 are receiving full scholarships to earn a Doctorate of Public Health.

Since its inception, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative has welcomed 448 Bloomberg Fellows to the School. These Fellows represent 351 organizations from 43 states, Washington, D.C., and two territories. Fellows come from local and state agencies, community-based organizations, libraries, law enforcement agencies, clinics or hospitals, and more.

The Bloomberg Fellowship program provides full scholarships for full- or part-time study through the Bloomberg American Health Initiative. The Fellow’s current place of employment, referred to as a collaborating organization, supports the Fellow, plays a key role in the program, and joins a national network of scholars, educators, practitioners, and other organizations working on similar health challenges.

The 2025 fellows represent 59 organizations across 29 states and Washington, D.C., including tribal and advocacy organizations, federal agencies, and more. Among the organizations are:

  • The Burlington County Special Services School District in New Jersey, which provides educational and therapeutic services to students with diverse needs including disabilities, behavioral challenges, and learning differences.
  • Equimundo in Washington, D.C., which engages men and boys in programs that promote healthy manhood and prevent violence.
  • The Rapid City Police Department in Michigan, which works to address crime with traditional policing and neighborhood engagement including breaking generational cycles of crime, poverty, and violence.
  • U.S. National Park Service, which preserves the natural and cultural resources of the U.S. National Park System with conservation efforts, education, and outdoor recreation programming.
