Research by several faculty members at the Johns ѻý has ranked “most cited” in a new list of influential names in the sciences created by Thomson Reuters, the international media firm. To calculate the rankings, Thomas Reuters analyzed citations referenced in specialty scientific journals in 21 fields between 2002 and 2012.
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School faculty whose citations ranked in the top 1 percent in their fields include , MD, G.W. Comstock Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and , DrPh, professor of health policy and health services research in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Also named to the “most cited” list was , MD, MPH, a long-time professor of health policy and management in the Department of Health Policy and Management who passed away in 2011.
At the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, 17 researchers made Thomson Reuters’ top 1 percent “most cited” list, including Lawrence Appel, MD, and Lisa Cooper, MD. Both have joint appointments at the Johns ѻý and Hopkins’ School of Medicine, and are also core members of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Appel serves as the Welch Center director.
