Teaching Excellence

Students recognize outstanding faculty in the first and second academic terms.
Excellence at the Bloomberg School begins with committed, inspired educators.
Teaching is at the heart of the School鈥檚 mission to prepare students to create innovative solutions that address the most challenging public health problems around the world.
In the classroom, our students interact with faculty who are discovering ways to eliminate malaria, improve the health of mothers and infants, identify environmental factors in autism, stem the obesity epidemic, improve the delivery of health services, prevent injury, improve health communication, reduce the devastating toll of gun violence and more.
Course evaluations allow students to recognize teaching excellence during each of the School鈥檚 four terms.
鈥淥ur faculty strive to be excellent teachers and mentors and take great pride in this recognition of their hard work,鈥 says James Yager, PhD, senior associate dean for academic affairs. 鈥淪tudents often make very good suggestions and the input helps faculty to identify areas where there could be improvement.鈥
In the first and second terms of the 2012-13 academic year, students selected the following 27 faculty members as exceptional teachers in 31 courses. The course evaluation response rate was more than 70 percent.
The School would like to thank and honor these faculty.
