Two faculty members at the Johns ѻý were recently recognized by the for their contributions to the field of health behavior research.
, ScD, ScM, director of the , was named the 2012 Research Laureate, the highest award bestowed by the Academy. The process of identifying the involves a competitive review of lifetime research productivity, as well as national and international impacts on the field. Gielen will receive her award and present a keynote address at the Academy’s annual meeting in March.
“On behalf of the Academy, I congratulate Dr. Gielen on this well-deserved recognition,” said Elaine A. Borawski, PhD, president of the Academy. “Andrea has achieved an honor that very few in our profession earn during their career.”
In another show of support for health behavior research at the Bloomberg School, , PhD, professor in the , was recently accepted as a Fellow by the Academy, a distinction that is also based on research productivity and scientific accomplishments in the field.
The mission of the American Academy of Health Behavior is to serve as the research home for health behavior scholars and researchers whose primary commitment is to achieve excellence in research and the application of research to practice to improve the public's health.
