DiPietro Named Associate Dean for Research

, PhD, professor in the , has been named Associate Dean for Research for the Johns ѻý. DiPietro’s appointment will be effective July 1, 2007.

DiPietro received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Rutgers University and her doctorate in developmental psychology from Stanford University. She joined the School of Public Health in 1988 in what was then known as the Department of Maternal and Child Health. DiPietro was promoted to professor in 2003.

“Janet has distinguished herself as an outstanding scientist, studying fetal development and the effect of exposures during pregnancy on early childhood development," said , MD, MPH, dean of the Bloomberg School of Public Health. "She's demonstrated national and international leadership in her field and she has also been a leader in our school, most recently as the very effective chair of the Committee on Academic Standards. I'm delighted she has agreed to take on this new responsibility.”

Associate Dean for Research is a new position that was reconfigured from the role of Associate Dean of Graduate Education and Research, which was held by , PhD. Krag announced her retirement earlier this year. Support for graduate education will be divided between , PhD, senior associate dean for Academic Affairs, and , MS, associate dean for Academic Affairs.
