School Researcher Discusses Threat of Mosquito-borne Disease

, assistant professor of at the Johns ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ and director of the , discussed the potential threat of the spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the United States with ABC World News Tonight. Dr. Patz explained that many of the mosquitoes that can spread West Nile virus, malaria, and dengue fever already exist in the United States, and that rising temperatures, warmer winters, and other environmental changes could increase the life span of mosquitoes and make them more infectious should a mosquito-borne disease become established in the U.S.
