Researchers Develop Smallpox Computer Simulation

Researchers from the and the Johns ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ have developed a computer model that illustrates the effects of a smallpox outbreak following a bioterrorism attack in a hypothetical American county. Based on the computer simulation, the Brookings/Johns Hopkins team has developed an alternative strategy for vaccinating against smallpox to the plan recently announced by President Bush.

Joshua M. Epstein, PhD, a senior fellow at the , and , MD, professor of and at the Johns ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½, unveiled their project at a briefing held on December 23, 2002.
